the_morningstar616So this morning my HTC Desire HD had a bit of a fit and decided to delete everything from my SD card. I keep everything on my phone; work rotas, fiction, music, honestly my life was on that thing. Fortunately I had backed it up to Google and so haven't lost anything, but it was quite a worrying experience.
On further investigation the problem seems to be the 2.2.1 software update. HTC forums say they are aware of the problem, but have no fix as yet. The Android forums seem to say that many handsets running 2.2.1 have had this problem, not just the HTC models. I've not lost faith in Android just yet though: luckily no harm was done, and actually after reformatting my SD card my handset runs faster and more smoothly than before. At least it's not a Windows handset hey?!)
Though the bad luck doesn't end there. I switched on my Xbox 360 to find a red ring. Naturally I panicked. I'm about two-thirds of the way through my first playthrough of Tales of Vesperia, and have completed The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery and Lost Oddyssey-all of which took significant amounts of my time. I've also got save files on there from Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Devil May Cry 4 and Halo 3, which, though shorter, were more difficult to complete in parts, so I really don't like the idea of having to do those all over again. Fortunately the old IT trick of turn-it-off-then-on-again worked, and now I have no red lights. I'm still not convinced though, it seems to be taking longer and longer to load these days, so it may well be time for a new one.
